Force domain changes
If you make a change to your Active Directory domain, such as deleteing a computer/user account, you don't have to wait for Active Directory's replication schedule to occur before having that change replicate to all of your other domain controllers. You can do the following to force the replication to occur:
1. Open Active Directory Sites and Services.
2. In the console tree, double-click the domain controller for the site containing the connection over which you want to replicate directory information.
(Active Directory Sites and Services -> Sites -> Choose the site that contains the connection/domain controller over which you want to replicate directory information -> Servers -> Domain controller for the site on which you made the change.)
3. In the console tree, click NTDS Settings.
4. In the Details pane, right-click the connection over which you want to replicate directory information, and then click Replicate Now.
Performing this action is no different than waiting for Active Directory to perform its schedule replication, so no harm will come to you by performing this action. It will just speed things up for you.
Additional notes: Active Directory Sites and Services can only be used from a computer that has access to a Windows 2000 domain. Active Directory Sites and Services is installed on all Windows 2000 domain controllers. To use Active Directory Sites and Services on a computer that is not a domain controller, such as one running Windows 2000 Professional, install the Windows 2000 Administration Tools.
