Also unter Suse 6 mit Dimino 5 ging das nach der Istallation so weiter

...
The install program will then install the files.

Add the Domino directories to the search path of user "notes"

Login to Linux as "notes", and add the Domino directories to that user's search path:

PATH=$PATH:/opt/lotus/bin:/local/notesdata

Run the Server Setup program

Log in to Linux as "notes". Confirm once again that TCP/IP is working properly by pinging another machine before attempting to proceed.

Change directory to /local/notesdata and from there, issue the following command:

/opt/lotus/bin/http httpsetup

You will see messages to the effect that HTTP Setup is running.

Connect to the your Linux server with a Web browser from another machine using the URL:

http://your.linux.server:8081

where you should replace "your.linux.server" with the IP address or DNS name of your Linux server.

An alternative to using a separate machine is to open another session on your Linux server using Alt-Right, login, launch X-Windows, and connect using the URL:

http://localhost:8081

Either way, as a Domino expert, you should recognize the page you see as "Step 1" of the usual Domino Server setup steps. Here is where your Domino expertise comes in; this guide will not explain how to answer the questions.

After you have finished the server setup steps, HTTP Setup will end and you will have your Linux command prompt back. Note the locations of server.id and cert.id. They should be in /local/notesdata. As for user.id, it is attached to a person document in names.nsf; you will extract it in step 9.

Starting the Server

Logged in as "notes", with your current directory as /local/notesdata, issue the command:

/opt/lotus/bin/server

The server should start. Wait until the HTTP Web Server is started before attempting to connect. Note that, unlike running Domino on Windows, you do not have the ">" prompt character on the Domino server console. Do not let this fool you; you can enter the usual commands there on the bottom line. (You should therefore already know how to stop the server; enter "q" at the server console.)

Extract user.id, the administrator ID file

After the HTTP Web Server has started, use a Web browser to connect to the IP address of your server (do not use the port 8081):

http://your.server

You should see the default Lotus Domino "navigator" screen. This means it's working!

Now, connect to

http://your.server/names.nsf

You should be able open the Address Book without a password at this point. (This is not very secure; you should edit the ACL ASAP.) Open the People view. There should be one person, the name you gave the Administrator in step 7. Open that Person document, and use the "UserID" link to download the user.id to the machine you will use for administration. (You may need to rename the downloaded file to user.id.)

Connect a Notes Client to the new server

Open a Notes Client and switch to the id you downloaded in step 9. Using File/Database/Open, enter as the Server the IP address of the new server and click "Open". After a few seconds, the Notes client should attempt to find a Notes server at that IP address and succeed. Open a database on the new server (such as the Address Book), and your Notes Client will now remember where to find your new server (the new server will be listed in the Server pull-down list under the Notes domain name and server name you gave it in step 7.)

At this point, being a Domino expert, you should know how to load databases on to the new server, design databases on the server, create user accounts, and do everything you are accustomed to doing with a Domino server.
