sehe ich etwas anders:

Domino gives its hostname when it connects to an external smtp server to deliver mail. It does this by opening the SMTP session with:

HELO host.domain.net

I got a problem with this because:
a. The RFC821 states that the name given should be the domain-name (HELO domain.net) not the host-name.
b. The internal hostname of our domino server differs from the internet internet-node-name (cable) from where smtp traffic orignates. I expect this will cause problems in the near future (due to SPAM control).

Question is how to change the name that is given in the (E)HELO command. I know I can change the SMTPGreeting, but this is for incomming SMTP traffic only (at least on iSeries).
I want to change the name that is given when our server connects to an external smtp server to deliver mail.

There's an ini parameter that may be useful to you:

It does exactly what you want. lets you specify the text of the helo message.

OK, Du siehst das anders - aber trotzdem ist es falsch. Das folgende Zitat stammt im übrigen aus der Admin-Hilfe:

"SMTPGreeting
Syntax: SMTPGreeting=string
Description: Specifies a text message sent to SMTP clients when they connect to the SMTP server. The message must contain the string "%s" which is replaced by the current date/time when the connection is made.
Applies to: Servers
Default: "host-name ESMTP Service (Lotus Domino build-name) ready at %s" "

und das hat nichts, aber auch garnichts, mit dem zu tun was ein Domino auf ein Helo command zurück gibt. Bei allem Respekt, aber wenn Du Dir nicht helfen lassen willst, solltest Du erst gar keine Fragen stellen.

Mach ein Telnet auf Port 25 auf Deinen SMTP Server.

Den Text den Du dann siehst ist das "SMTP Greeting"!!!

Dann gibst Du ein HELO hostname oder EHLO hostname ein.
Wobei hostname genau der Wert ist, der bei deinem Partner angemeckert wird.
Wie Erwin schon geschrieben wurde passt der Hostname nicht! Dein Server schreibt da was falsches rein...
