??? Zustellungsfehlerberichte

Hallo zusammen!

Hatte erst den Zustellungsfehlerbericht :

Ihr Dokument wurde nicht zugestellt, weil: 250 OK

Das ganze ging an eine AOL Adresse.

Gibt es irgendwo ne Fehlercode Erklärung für Dummies? Ist nämlich nicht das erste mal, das ich nen Fehlercode bekomme, aus der ich nicht schlau werde und die Mail letztendlich doch angekommen ist.

Problem
A message was sent by a Notes mail user on a Domino 5.0.1a mail server intended for an Internet recipient. The message was rejected by the company's SMTP mail gateway with the following error in a Delivery Failure Report:


To: John Smith<jsmith@Company.com

Subject: Subject_Name
"Error transferring to Internet2.COMPANY.COM; SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error 250 <Jane_Smith@Company.com>... Sender ok"

NOTE: The error being reported above is very deceiving. It reports a problem transferring the message to the SMTP relay for the sender. The SMTP protocol error being returned is reporting a Permanent error, yet it is reporting a 250, which is a positive SMTP reply code. If the error were reported correctly, it would be a 550.

The same mail message was sent through a Notes 4.6.3a mail server running the SMTP MTA product. The following failure message was generated on the SMTP MTA server:


"Recipient's mailbox is busy, not found, no access; or user unknown, or domain host name unknown."

Solution
The address syntax of the recipient's address was the problem here. The sender of the message addressed the message (or replied) using the recipient's Friendly name along with the email address. The address did not contain the closing > "greater than" symbol.

To: John Smith<jsmith@Company.com> Added here in blue
cc:
Subject: Subject_Name

Adding the "greater than" sign will correct the problem.

However, when additional ID names are concatenated to the standard Internet address, it is best to always use the standard name.

For Example:

In the "To" field of the mail memo, change:

John Smith <jsmith@Company.com

to...

jsmith@Company.com

This will ensure proper delivery of the memo.

Note: It is also possible that if the To field syntax is correct, a relay in one of the hops before the destination server corrupts the syntax giving the same error. An SMTP MTA trace can also help provide more information.

Hi Znarf,

Hmm, also AOL sind die RFCs eigentlich schon immer scheiß egal gewesen.
Ich habe da eher folgende Interpretation.
Der Benutzer schickt eine Mail mit Empfangsbestätigung an einen AOL Account.
Zurück gibts dann eine Mail mit 250 OK.
Damit Notes dem Ganzen nicht hinten ansteht generiert er dann eine Erfolgsmeldung mit einer Zustellfehlerberichtsmaske weil Notes halt nur eine Maske besitzt.
Schade eigentlich.
Die Kurzform lautet: Scheiss drauf 250 OK heißt er hat es bekommen.
