omino Server Error: "MemAlloc: OUT OF PRIVATE HANDLES...Used So Far 20034, Maximum Handles = 10495"

Problem:

Ever since a customer upgraded their server from Domino 4.6x to 5.0.2b, the server hangs with the following error at the server console approximately once a week:

"[016F:012E-01B5] MemAlloc: OUT OF PRIVATE HANDLES! -- pid 0000016F Handles used so far 18600, Maximum handles = 10495"

Once this error occurs, Notes 4.6x clients receive the following errors when they attempt to authenticate with the server:

"Maximum number of memory segments that Notes can support has been exceeded."

OR

"Your Public Key not found in the Name and Address book."

Solution:

This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in Domino 5.0.4.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.4 QMR fix list:

SPR# CWAR4JQHJG - Fixed a memory leak that occurred during replication of folders. [5.0.4]

It was found that the problem was due to a leaking memory block during folder replication.  The block is used for mail files that are accessed through IMAP and POP3.

"MemAlloc: OUT OF PRIVATE HANDLES!" & Domino 5.0.6 SMTP Server Crashes During MIME-to-CD Conversion

Problem:

A Domino 5.0.6x SMTP server crashes on a message that contains a URL link.  The crash appears to take place while the message is undergoing MIME-to-CD conversion.  The following error displays:

"MemAlloc: OUT OF PRIVATE HANDLES! -- pid 00005C2E Handles used so far 147455, Maximum handles = 128"

Solution:

This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in Domino 5.0.7.

Supporting Information:

The above error displays on an AIX server running Domino 5.0.6.

Server Hang with Error: "MemAlloc: OUT OF PRIVATE HANDLES!..."

Problem:

A customer's server is hanging approximately once per day with the following error:

"[016F:012E-01B5] MemAlloc: OUT OF PRIVATE HANDLES! -- pid 0000016F Handles used so far 18600, Maximum handles = 10495"

Solution:

A leak was identified in BLK_OPENED_NOTE on the 5.0.1a server.  This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in Domino Releases 5.0.2b and 5.0.3..

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.3 QMR fix list:

Server

SPR# KMES4DHSHE - Fix a memory leak which occurred when deleting a note which was contained in the Single Copy Object Store. [5.0.3,5.0.2b]

It was found that this leak would occur whenever someone deleted a linked note that is in the object store but is not the last link.

Wenn Du das gleich gesagt hättest, hätte ich mir das sparen können.  


Also immer angeben: Welche Notes-Version, welches Betriebssystem.
