Title:
"Error Updating Local ID File the Public Key or Certifier Version Not Supported.." on Server Startup
Product: Lotus Domino > Lotus Domino Server > 5.x
Platform(s): Platform Independent
Document Number: 1092790 Date: 16.02.2000
Problem
After upgrading your server from 4.6x to 5.x, the following error displays on the Domino R5.x Server console and in the Notes log (Miscellaneous Events view) when the server is starting up"
"Error Updating Local id file: the public key for certificate version stored in the address book is not supported."
This error occurs when the information in the Public Key field of a Server document is incorrect or contaminated. Delete this information and paste in a copy of the public key from the server ID. To do this, you will need to do the following:
1. On a Notes R5.x client, switch to the Server.ID. Select File, Tools, Switch ID, and choose the Server.ID.
2. You will now need to get the public key (select File, Tools, User ID) by going into the More Options button and selecting Copy Public Key.
3. Open WordPad and Paste (Ctr+V) the public key into a new document.
4. Switch back to your User.ID (follow Step 1) and open the Public Address Book.
5. Go into the Server document of the server in question and place the document in edit mode
6. Select the Administration tab and copy the Certified Public Key field.
7. Paste into WordPad under the Server.ID public key.
8. A compare of the first three sets of numbers will reveal that they are different.
9. To correct this, copy the public key from the Server.ID file and paste it into the Certified Public Key field of the document. Save the document.
10. You will need to reboot the server to have the changes take effect.
