"Error 404- File Does Not Exist" when Using Search Site via the Web
Problem:
You are using the Search Site database via the Web, attempting to search databases on multiple servers. However, when opening documents from selected servers, you find that the following error can occur:
"Error 404 - file does not exist."
Solution:
To avoid the error, you must have HTTP running on all servers that have databases indexed by the Search Site database. Otherwise, those servers will not be able to serve up documents returned by the search to Web-based clients.

Failed URL Links from Multi-database Search on Search Site Database
Problem:
After setting up multi-database searching using the Domino Server search site database, the search result returns as expected with document links pointing to a different server. A Notes client can follow these links without problems.
When using a Web browser, connecting to the sever and initiating the same search from the Web Search Form of the search site database, the same links are returned; but when trying follow the URL links to documents on other servers, the following error is displayed to the browser:
"Error 404:
HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - File does not exist."
Solution:
This issue was first reported to Lotus Quality Engineering via SPR #JHUI3QKJNR and was determined to no longer occur in Domino 5.0.2. However, an additional occurrence of this issue in Domino 5.0.6a has been reported via SPR #RCFE4Y4J74 as a regression.
To work around the initially reported issue:
If you look at the specific URL, it will resemble the following link:
http://198.114.49.162/8525650d00693a76/abf4ea8c64018c10852563c000646f8f/3a10dea652e24d038525650d00694162?OpenDocumentChanging the server name or address 198.114.49.162 to that of the server where the target document is located will retrieve the document, in most cases.
