This issue is a bug with the 8.0.2 codestream. Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with Symantec. It is a result (mostly) from launching Notes too quickly after the OS is launched, which is the reason many people see this error in the morning. Other errors coming from the same bug are launching Notes and getting the error "A problem was encountered while opening a window" or ""RTVSCAN is operational and may be holding out memory" This bug is apparently fixed in 8.0.2 FP1CCH2 and 8.5.1, scheduled for Q3 of 2009.

Problem
When launching Notes 8.0.2 or 8.5 (Standard or Basic), users intermittently receive one of the following errors:
"RTVSCAN is operational and may be holding out memory"
- or -
"0x1B1 - Version mismatch between executable and preexisting shared memory versions! EXITING. You may need to stop RTVSCAN or reboot."
Diagnosing the problem
RTVSCAN.exe is a Symantec executable, but this error occurs regardless of whether the user has Symantec installed on the machine or not
Resolving the problem
This issue is fixed in 8.0.2 Fix Pack 2 and 8.5 Fix Pack 1. Fix details: SPR# DDES7L9SEV
Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino. This issue is also fixed in the latest CCH (Cumulative Client Hotfix) for Notes 8.0.2.
Note: SPR #TONN7WTQQE was opened to investigate reports that the issue reported in SPR# DDES7L9SEV still occurs in 8.5.1.
