Why Lotus notes is the most s***y thing I have to put up with?
Last december when I joined my new employer, I was given this mail client tool called 'Lotus Notes' which is supposed to be the best in the market and I was kind of convinced that I can live without my cute darliing MS Outlook (which I used at my previous employer). But to my utter misfortune even after 6 months, I am left with sheepish grin on my face,
When my ex-collegue asks me, "Lotus notes? what is that?"
I say - "Its a mail client like your Outlook"
"Ohh I see, then how does it feel dude?"
"Well I have no words to explain you why I hate it so much"
"Array !!! why? you say its from IBM, and it can have in-built applications for the intranet, then why are you cribbing?"
After a long pause, I list him why Lotus notes is the most s***y thing I had to put up with in the recent past.
Though I know that there are many LN fans out there, who think MS is ruubbish with its Outlook, and try to convince me why Lotus Notes is the best,
I refuse to accept any of these claims and after 6 months of its usage, have convinced myself that 'I Miss my Outlook"
My list of what LN can possibly do to your health.

No matter on when or what you click, you see that s***y hourglass mouseicon atleast for a handful of seconds, which isnt the case with MS outlook.

I cannot rely on either the calendar or the todo list. Whoever knows when the reminder I had set 2 months ago may popup this monday morning.

Be warned. If I click on a link, for sure it opens in the inbuilt browser which takes hours to load a simple html page.

I dont see a categorized view of my personal folders, files and my inbox stuff on the server.

All my mails lie on the server. Either you create personal folders or not, LN doesn't bother about you personal stuff.

I can't import .pst files that were exported from my OL, where I had all my personal stuff, with my previous employer.

The name/email id look up on the F9 key sucks.

I have no way of knowing which folder has how many unread mails. I gottu open it to see whats in there. (Ex: the new hotmail feature)

I have created rules so that I can manage my mails well. For sure It doesn't let me know when has a new mail arrived in that personal folder of mine.

If I create a new folder, disaster strikes and my inbox vanishes.
I had complained this bit to the infra guys, and after 3 months, they are yet to figure how that can be solved.

I have no way to recall any mails that I have sent already by mistake.

The calendar utility is horribly user-friendly.

Everytime I delete a mail from the 'Sent Items' folder, I am asked to confirm, 'Whether I really wish to delete', which is a pleasing sight to see for a impatient user like me.

The whole Lotus notes-UI is supposed to be the most pleasing sight for a mail client, and being a UI specialist I cannot buy that point at the cost of anything.

I am supposed to select whether I need to 'Reply' or 'Reply with history' when I want to reply to a mail, from an annoying menu style selection.

There are a very few things I can know by right clicking and selecting 'View details' from a mail id.

I can't set the 'Read receipt' at once to all my outgoing mails. I need to peacefully and with my beautiful memory mark it for 'Read Receipt' for each.

And I have here, a beautiful contact lists which refuses to act the way I want it.

How I wish I had my sweet darling out look at my workplace.
I miss you OL, I miss you !!!
