Playing around with the 8.0 client I find that I cannot open !!HELP!! (1.53). It show a message claiming FS-MAIN does not exist.
After OK, a new message with "Invalid or Nonesistent document".
The frameset opens fine in designer client.
Any tips?

This is a known problem with the 1.53 release and has been fixed in 1.6.
This issue can occur, regardless the Notes version you are using.

Is the upgrade procedure basically the same as from 1.5 to 1.53?

A lot of things have changed from 1.53 to 1.6. Mostly under the hood. A significant change happened to the fields containing date/time values.
In 1.5.x some of the fields where text only ( I know, worse practice according to Bill Buchan ::) )
In 1.6 I've changed all those fields to be of type date/time.
This could be a problem, because we do nat have any method to transform the text to date/time by now.
But this is the only thing you have to keep in mind when upgrading to 1.6 ... ( I hope)

It show a message claiming FS-MAIN does not exist.
I cannot reproduce this issue on a Notes 8 Basic client.
Everything works just fine here ...

And today it works for me as well (Notes 8 Standard). One of my colleagues had no problems. Strange.

I think I see a pattern with this problem.
If my mailfile (8 template on 8.0 standard client) is open, then it will crash with the mentioned error.
If the mailfile is not open, helpdesk opens fine.
I then copied the frameset "FS-MAIN" to my mailfile, and helpdesk opens fine (but without content, as I didn't copy those parts).

i can confirm oddage, no problems with the database on the base client,
In rich client (german version):
1. Open : Empty frame , Error Message FS-Main
2. Leave emptry frame open an open application again
3. In the second tab, the startframe is displayed
4. Changing from Open Documents to configuation: error message cant execute function
5. empty right frame.
The behavior is not reproduceable. I also was able to work with the application for some time without error.
I saw the error with local database and with database on Server ( Release 6.5.4 FP2)

Hello,
i have the same problem. I think there is a script that opens the fs-main, but at the start the fs-main is already open.
I created a empty page in a frame. I change the start options of the database to open my new frame. Now it works. For 1 second my blank page is visible and than fs-main will be opened.
I had the same trouble with the 7.02 Client.

Looks like it's the setting "Restore as last viewed by User" in the databaseproprties is causing this problem - just had occured here too with clients worked before on 7.0.2 and updated to 8.0 - removing the checkmark has fixed this for us.

Well this does not work for me because up here this was one of the first entries checked and it was not set. But we are currently testing for a upgrade to V8 and there seem to be some more quirks then this thing only.
@UserLanguage seems to be buggy also.

Just upgraded to 8.0.1, and it seems to be working now.
it opens as it should.

I had the same problem with the FS-Main error. And I can reproduce it.
Domino Server 8.0.2
Notes Client 8.0.2
Admin Client 8.0.2
Help 1.6
Opening Help with Admin client: FS-Main error occurs.
Opening the same Help with Notes client: everything works fine
Switching back to Admin client: FS-Main error occurs
Maye this helps somebody.
