Hallo zusammen,
ein Kollege von mir wird am Wochenende neue Platten u.a. für unsere Notes-Server bereitstellen. Nun hat er mich gefragt, mit welcher Blockgröße er diese formatieren soll. Standard bei NTFS sind 4 KB. Er meint einmal gelesen zu haben, dass für Notes 16 KB ideal sein sollen.
Ehrlich gesagt bin ich hier ziemlich überfragt und hoffe, dass mir jemand weiterhelfen kann:
1. Gibt es eine Empfehlung?
2. Wenn ja, von welcher Quelle?
3. Kann dies spürbare Vorteile bringen?

Hallo zusammen, aus dem Redbook ( http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpapers/pdfs/redp3851.pdf ) von IBM habe ich folgende Information (Seite 35) bekommen, die ich hier nicht vorenthalten möchte:
NTFS allocation unit and stripe size considerations
Tests have shown that the optimal allocation unit size for Lotus Domino server is 16 KB. You
should, therefore, format the Notes database partitions using an operating system file
allocation unit size of 16 KB. We also recommend that you choose an adequate 16 KB RAID
stripe unit size.
To format a drive using 16 KB allocation units, execute the following command:
format drive: /q /fs:ntfs /v:trlog /a:16K
In Windows 2000, the Disk Management console already supports an allocation unit size up
to 64 KB. Figure 3-3 shows how to format a drive in Windows 2000 to achieve a 16 KB NTFS
allocation unit size.
