Hallo zusammen,
wir wollen hier Clients automatisch updaten mit setup -s
Vom Prinzip her klappt das auch, aber leider nicht überall. Bei einigen PCs läuft es nicht und im Logfile steht dann ...

[ResponseResult]
ResultCode=-12
Wie kriege ich jetzt raus, was dieser ResultCode=-12 bedeutet, was die Ursache ist und wie ich das ganze zum Laufen kriege?
Hat jemand 'ne Idee?

zwei mögliche Ursachen habe ich schon selbst gefunden.
1.
wenn eine notes.ini von der Vorgängerversion noch im Verzeichnis c:\winnt steht (hätten eigentlich alle entfernt sein sollen) und die neue in c:\notes, dann krachts - Abhilfe: vorher die alte notes.ini löschen.
2.
wird ein PC, der bei der automatischen Installation abbricht, manuell installiert, kommt ein Fehlerhinweis:
"unInstaller-Setup konnte nicht initialisiert werden. Sie können dieses Produkt möglicherweise nicht deinstallieren." - Abhilfe: ?
Kennt jemand die Ursache für diese Meldung? Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, daß die automatische Installation durchläuft, wenn ich die Ursache für diesen Fehler beseitige.

Hi Wolfgang,
der Fehlercode ist in der Regel eine "File is in use" Meldung. Das heißt eine Datei kann nicht upgedatet werden weil irgendein Task noch seine Finger draufhat.

Ich habe leider gerade den Verdacht, der ResultCode=-12 kommt einfach immer, wenn das Update nicht klappt. Eine Ursache können dann wohl auch die im Zugriff befindlichen Dateien sein.
Die PCs, die sich gegen das Update wehren, wurden vor der Installation sogar gebootet. Da sollten dann eigentlich keine Notes-Dateien mehr im Zugriff sein. Notes ist auch nicht im Autostart des PCs eingetragen.

Vielleicht hilft Dir ja dies weiter?
This problem appears to occur due to the "rebooting needs" of the workstation where the SETUP.ISS file was initially created. If the SETUP.ISS file was created on a workstation that did not need to be rebooted and you use the same SETUP.ISS file to install R5 on a workstation that does need to be rebooted, the install will fail. The install will also fail if the SETUP.ISS file is created on a workstation that does need to be rebooted, and the same file is used to install R5 on a workstation that does not need to be rebooted. The "rebooting needs" of the workstation where you created the file and that of the workstation where you are installing Notes must be the same.
As the fix list excerpt above indicates, you have to add the parameter, [no]reboot, to prevent this problem. Examples of the updated syntax are below.
If you want the workstation to reboot after the install:
E:\Apps\W32Intel\setup.exe reboot -s -f1E:\Apps\W32Intel\setup.iss
If you do not want the workstation to reboot after the install:
E:\Apps\W32Intel\setup.exe noreboot -s -f1E:\Apps\W32Intel\setup.iss
Using this additional parameter will prevent the install from failing.

Das muß ich mir auf jeden Fall mal merken, weil das sicherlich häufig auch noch passieren wird und dann weiß ich wenigstens gleich, wo ich suchen muß..
Leider sieht es aber so aus, daß das in meinen aktuellen Fällen wohl auch nicht hilft. Wenn man die betroffenen PCs nämlich manuell installiert, ist genauso wenig ein Reboot nötig wie auf dem PC, auf dem die setup.iss erstellt wurde.
Am Montag gehts weiter ...
