Nur mal so für mich zum Verständnis - ich habe mit dem Transaktionsprotokoll seit 3-4 Jahren nichts mehr am Hut weil bei uns halt nicht gewollt.
War es nicht so, daß gerade durch die Verwendung des Transaktionsprotokolls der Server nach einem Crash deutlich schneller wieder hochfahren sollte als ohne? Das war doch imho eines der wesentlichen Argumente für die Verwendung des Transaktionsprotokolls - oder?

Richtig dem ist so. Nur hängt das Ganze dann halt sehr davon ab, wo man das Transaction Log hininstalliert hat.

Gleiches Plattensystem wie Data Verzeichnis oder noch besser gleiches Plattensystem und gleicher Controller und es wird dann halt nicht schneller sondern langsamer.

hmm. Die LUN für das Translog liegt auf HP EVA. Soll super schnell sein...

Paul Mooney meint, man sollte die Transaction Logs lokal halten, wenn man nicht genau weiß, was man auf dem SAN tut:

In relation to a SAN - yes you can put transactional logs on a SAN, but only if you have implemented in the same manner.  This usually costs a lot of money (separate drive area/disks/controllers/spindles/LUN).  If your blades come with a local array (raid 1 array) use them for your transactional logs and SAN boot them instead.  Sometimes, the Domino administrator is not the SAN administrator aswell - and you may need to ensure that if you have Trnslog running on the SAN, that it is done in this manner.

So, unless implemented properly I recommend that the transactional log files are on local drives.  I have many scars from SANs!

Hey, danke erstmal, das werden wir mal prüfen. Wir haben nun auch noch etwas gefunden, einen notes.ini Parameter:
TRANSLOG_Performance
Syntax: TRANSLOG_Performance=value
Description: Specifies the trade-off between transactional log runtime and restart recovery time, as follows:


1 - Favor runtime. The system stores more database changes in memory writes fewer changes to the transaction log. Fewer writes to disk improves server runtime.
2 - Standard (default)

3 - Favor restart recovery time. The system stores fewer database changes in memory and writes more changes to the transaction log. More writes to the transaction log improves restart recovery time.
