Setting for preview can be saved ?

also for the designer.... suppose I had installed just the Notes client and I use just the mail db ! How can I achive my goal ? (to save this setting wiht doc preview)

I'm afraid this is an dead end Street for you; without accessing the desing of even the inbox folder you'll have no chance.

There's no way to do what you want to in Notes R5, I'm afraid.

In R5 you can have just one of these start-up options: "Use designated Frameset" OR "restore as lasted viewed by user".
If you change to the latter (you can do that using the Client only), you loose the framseset and start with a R4 like list of views instead of the R5 outline. But Notes will remember the status of the preview pane.
If you leave the startup option as it is, opening the frameset overwrites all changes made by the user. Includng the status of the preview pane.

However, R6 offers the beauty of both options together ...

Honestly, until now I do love R6. Looks just great to me and fullfills many of a notes developers dreams.
