Problem
You install a multi-user setup of Notes 6 Client, and during the installation you are prompted only for where you would like to install the Notes program directory; you are not asked to specify the location of your Data directory. You then log onto the machine, run through the Setup and this creates the personal data folder in the default location of:
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Application Data\Lotus\Notes\Data
If another user logs onto the computer and runs through the setup, the same behavior occurs, only under that user's account.
Users are not given a choice at any time through install or setup to specify a different location for their Data directories.
Solution
An enhancement request for this functionality has been submitted to Lotus Software Quality Engineering. This request will not be investigated for Notes/Domino 6 (ND6).
Supporting Information:
In one customer's particular case he wanted to lock down his computers to the users and give them rights only to the "My Documents" directory. Ideally he wanted their Data directories installed there. The directories could be moved after running through the setup; however, this defeats the customer's purpose of locking the directories and giving the users limited rights.
