Smartupgrade kit vs. patch kit ?!

Hallo leutz ,

ich habe heute eine recht interessante frage bekommen und ich muss zugeben ich habe keine Ahnung was die Antwort betrifft.

Es gibt das Smartupgrade Kit und das /Patch Kit. Beide führen zum selben Ergebnis und beide sind für jede Version verfügbar.
Es gibt sie in der AllClient Version oder auch in der Version mit der man gerade arbeitet.

Frage:
Worin zum Geier besteht der unterschied zischen den beiden ?

Tja wie es so läuft habe ich die Antwort nun gefunden.
Also für alle die das Problem auch mal haben oder diese Kundenfrage beantworten sollen , hier die Antwort 


You can use either one with SmartUpgrade.

The Upgrade kit is a full install kit that will only install on top of an existing 6.x installation. It is designed for use where all of your users might not be on the same version. e.g. the 6.5.1 Upgrade kit will install on over existing 6.0.3 and 6.5 installations. You can be very generic in the SmartUpgrade kit document when specifying the source version. The upgrade kit is significantly larger than the patch kit, which could have impact for low-bandwidth users.

The Patch kits is a set of binary deltas that will only work on a specific version. The users must be at that specific version or the patch will not install. e.g the 6.5.1 patch kit will only install on top of 6.5. The patch kits are smaller than the Upgrade kits and are therefore a good choice for low bandwidth users.
