Notes Buddy, mini Mail Klient für Notes
« am: 27.08.02 - 09:29:32 »
Hi Leute,

ich habe hier einen super kleinen Mail Klient für Notes mit Sametime support. Leider hab ich die ausführlich beschreibung nur auf englisch.

Der Download-link ist darunter. Viel Spaß ...

NotesBuddy is a lightweight E-mail client utility for use with Lotus Notes and Internet (POP3/SMTP) based mail servers. Its goal is to provide an easy to use tool for handling E-mail messages (both incoming and outgoing) using interesting presentation and interaction techniques.

When started, NotesBuddy will load your current inbox and can then announce when important mail arrives by displaying a list of those new messages (allowing you to define what is important through simple criteria like names or keywords). If used with a Lotus Notes account, NotesBuddy can monitor your Notes based mail on a server or on a local replica - and can even launch you directly into Notes to handle a message if you wish (although NotesBuddy itself can handle E-mail functions directly).

Additional features include support for saving E-mail in progress, printing E-mail messages, and new message notification by pager. If you choose to download the "Text-To-Speech" version (which uses IBM ViaVoice Outloud), you can also have E-mail read to you by a synthesized voice - or try out audio notes where you can compose and listen to mail using recorded voice attachments. NotesBuddy is "multi-modal", meaning it can playback either text or audio mail using the same user interface.

For more information about this product, including a list of Frequently Asked Questions and an alternate download location, you can refer to the external  NotesBuddy home page.

Once installed, a "NotesBuddy readme" object should be available in the newly created IBM NotesBuddy folder. Be sure to refer to that document for important product information, including known limitations and troubleshooting assistance.

Any issues, problems, or questions regarding this product can be directed to the external web based NotesBuddy Discussion. Be aware, however, that any IBM confidential or IBM internal information (including references to this site) should not be posted in that general public forum for any reason. Doing so may violate IBM business guidelines and can result in your termination from the company.

Since NotesBuddy is meant to demonstrate a small and useful project using User-Centered Design (UCD) techniques, the developers consider users to be part of the design team and want to hear from them. To let the development team know what you like, don't like, or think can be done to improve the product, you can use the web based NotesBuddy Evaluation form. And to learn more about UCD, you can also refer to the external IBM Ease of Use Home Page.

All software available here is for IBM internal use only and should not be distributed for any reason. Refer to our "Help" section for more information regarding software usage guidelines.

Note: Speech recognition technology, including the ability to use your voice in place of a keyboard and mouse, is only available with the full ViaVoice product. The Text-To-Speech version of NotesBuddy does not use that additional technology, and using both it and full speech recognition at the same time is not recommended. Also, to the best of our knowledge, only a U.S. English version of NotesBuddy with Text-To-Speech support is currently available.

Lotus Notes Mail Users: Lotus Notes must already be installed and working on your system in order to use NotesBuddy to access your Notes based mail. If Lotus Notes is not present on your system, an object for the Notes mail version of NotesBuddy will not be installed (only the POP3 version will be). Although NotesBuddy works well with Lotus Notes (sharing the inbox, folders, and address books), the two products do not currently synchronize with each other. As a result, the displays from each may show different statuses for your messages. Also be aware that this program is only meant to be a companion product to Lotus Notes - not a replacement - since it [intentionally] only offers a minimal subset of the full Lotus Notes product features. It may, however, be suitable as your only E-mail client for Internet based mail (depending on your needs).

Important: Although considered stable and reliable, NotesBuddy is still defined as "experimental" by its developers - and is therefore classified as a beta code product. As such, there is no guaranteed support of any kind. Use of this product is at your own risk.
