IBM erwirbt Gluecode Software - Einstieg in den low-end Open-Source Markt

Das "migrate" klingt da aber sehr einfach.

Was meint der forumseigene Leichtmatrose dazu? ;)

Das Migrate muss ja auch einfach sein....wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe ist das ja erst der Punkt wo IBM verdient.

Und der Rest klingt dann doch ganz gewaltig nach Appetizer... wir liefern was, was fast produktiv nutzbare Ergebnisse liefert (aber den Rückweg zu OS verbaut) - und produktiv nutzbare Ergebnisse bekommst Du, wenn Du Deine Seele (in Teilen) an IBM verscherbelst.

Was mich wirklich wundert: Das Unternehmen hört sich ziemlich nach einer Butze an. Seit wann frisst denn der Adler Mücken?

Ich hab extrem keinen Bock mehr auf den Unsinn. Ich mache Notes, Springframework, JBoss und werde jetzt endlich .net lernen. >:( >:(

Ja schon. Aber ist es ein "migrate" oder das klassische Microsoftsche "rip and replace"? Ich tippe, ohne Details zu kennen, auf zweiteres.

Hmmm. Ob ich morgen bei IBM mal nachfragen soll, ob sie schon so ein fertiges "Geronimo Express" haben und wie da die Migration auf Websphere aussieht? ;) :D

Naja. Die haben eine Menge Geronimo Commiter. Das sind meist Leute, die vorher bei JBoss gearbeitet haben.

Für meinen Geschmack tendieren die dazu, alles hektisch zusammenzuklabastern. Ich bin da skeptisch. Was soll man auch von der Qualität des Services einer Firma halten, die nix aber auch gar nix selber entwickelt ausser Installationsroutinen, über die ich nur noch lache. Z.B. die Angabe des SMTP Servers, nur weil man die DB2 V8 Developer Version installieren will.  ;D
Ich halte wie gesagt J2EE für eine gute Plattform (soll hier nicht diskutiert werden). Aber die wirklich innovativen Sachen (z.B. Springframework) passieren nicht in IBM.
