'Notify Me' Checkbox Is not Selected but Alarm Triggers Appropriately
Problem
If you have your Calendar Preferences set to automatically enable alarms and you accept a meeting invitation you expect the alarm for the invite to be set via the 'Notify Me' box being automatically selected for the invitation. However, the 'Notify Me' box does not become selected as it should. Despite this issue, the alarm still triggers as it should.
This issue can cause problems for customers who sync with Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). The alarms do not trigger on the PDA unless this 'Notify Me' checkbox is selected when they sync up.
Solution
This issue has been reported to Lotus Software Quality Engineering, and is currently under investigation. There is no known workaround.
In order to see this problem you will need 2 users: UserA and UserB
1. Make sure both users have their mail files set up to automatically "Enable the Display of Alarm Notifications" by opening the mail files and selecting Actions --> Tools --> Preferences, then selecting the 'Calendar & To Do' tab, then the 'Alarms' tab. The checkbox for "Enable the Display of Alarm Notifications" should be selected. Select OK to exit the preferences.
2. Have UserA create a meeting and invite UserB. UserA can select the 'Notify Me' checkbox, or not, when they create the meeting; it does not matter whether the box is checked.
3. Have UserB accept the invite.
4. Open the Calendar of UserB's mail file, and open the meeting. Note that the 'Notify Me' box is not selected.
5. Wait until the meeting time; note that the alarm is set and does trigger appropriately, even though the 'Notify Me box' is not set.
