How to Move a Notes User in the Hierarchical Name Scheme
Problem:
A Notes/Domino customer would like to know how to change a user from one hierarchical name scheme to a different name scheme or to move a user from one certifier to a different certifier. For example, a user John Smith has been promoted from director of HR to a VP of International Relations. His hierarchical name was changed from John Smith/HR_1/Acme to John Smith/IR_1/Acme.
Solution:
Perform the following steps in order to change a user from one hierarchical name scheme to a different name scheme or to move a user from one certifier to a different certifier:
Steps for the Administrator to move user(s) to organization or organizational unit:
1. Open the Public Name & Address Book (NAB).
2. Select the appropriate user's name.
3. Select Actions, Rename Person.
4. Click "Request Move to New Certifier".
5. Select "Choose Original Certifier ID" and click OK.
6. Enter the password.
7. Enter the Name of the new certifier in the New Certifier field (make sure it is fully hierarchical, for example, IR_1/CAM/LOTUS.)
8. Click "Submit Request".
9. Open the Administration Request Database.
10. Open the "Name Move Requests" view.
11. Select Actions, Complete Move for Selected Entries.
12. Select the new certifier that will recertify the name(s) and click OK.
13. Enter the password for the certifier and click OK.
14. Accept the default certifier expiration date or a different date.
15. You will be asked if you want to select a New Qualifying Organization Unit . For example, if you want to differentiate two users in your organization with the same common name, you can achieve this by assigning a qualified organizational unit to one or both of the users. If you have two people with the name John Smith, you may assign one of the John Smiths a Qualified Organization Unit /Marketing so that you can distinguish between John Smith/IR_1/Acme and John Smith/Marketing/IR_1/Acme. Doing this adds a differentiating component that appears between the common name and certifier name. You do not enter an organizational unit certifier name here. If you do, the new name will include the organizational unit certifier name twice. For example, if you are renaming John Smith/Acme to John Smith/IR_1/Acme and you specify IR_1 in the "New Qualifying Org. Unit" field, the new name actually becomes John Smith/IR_1/IR_1/Acme.
16. Click Certify.
Steps for user to accept the new organizational unit or organization:
1. The user will authenticate with any server in the domain (assuming the Public NAB and Administration Request Database have replicate within the domain ) and will be prompted with the dialog box: "Would you like to update your current name... Yes or No." Select Yes.
2. Once the user has accepted the new Organization or Organizational Unit, the Administration Process (AdminP) will take care of changing the person's name in the Public NAB, including the Person documents, all Access Control Lists (ACLs) and all Reader/Author Names fields throughout the domain.
Review the Administrator's Guide for complete details on the Administration Process.
