Title: Customized Views Created in R5 Domino Directory Disappear after Upgrading Design to Domino 6; They no Longer Appear on Left Hand Side
Product: Platform(s): Lotus Domino > Lotus Domino Designer > 6.x Platform Independent
Document Number: 1105561 Date: 03/19/2003
Problem
You have created customized views in the Domino R5 Directory. You can see these views along with the standard views in the list/navigator on the left when you open the Domino Directory. You upgrade the design of your Domino Directory to that of Domino 6, and then notice your views are no longer listed with the rest of the default views on the left. They've disappeared.
Content
The views you created are still part of the database design. The views are not displayed because of the design of the Domino 6 Directory; the new design uses a Frameset. The left hand frame content is a Page which has an Embedded Outline. To display your customized views you must add a new outline entry to the (AllViews) Outline for the customized view. Also, any new views you create once the design of the Domino Directory has been upgrades to Domino 6 must also have a new Outline entry be created for it if you want it to display in the list of views on the left. Steps To Create a New Outline Entry 1. Open Domino Directory with the Domino Designer client. 2. On the left expand the Shared Code category, then expand Outlines and locate the outline called: (AllViews) 3. Select the New Entry action button. 4. Type the name of the view in the Label field. 5. In the Content section make the following sections: a. Type: "Named Element" and "View" b. Value: Select Folder Icon c. Select the name of the view you wish to appear in the frame (the list of views seen on the left at the view level). 6. Save the Outline. For more information regarding how to create an outline entry see the Domino Designer Help topic titled "Selected Outline Entry properties".
