Cannot Re-import Holidays after Deleting Them from the Calendar in Notes R5
Problem:
You are using the Calendaring & Scheduling feature of Notes 5.x Client and Domino 5.x Server, and have imported Holidays into your calendar (via Actions, Tools, Import Holidays). You then delete one or more of the holidays, but then notice that you cannot reimport them into your calendar.
Steps to Reproduce Problem:
1. Open your mail file and switch to the Calendar view.
2. Select Actions, Tools, Import Holidays, and choose the desired set of holidays, such as 'United States'. The holidays are properly imported and placed in your calendar.
3. Delete any of the holidays.
4. When prompted, delete all instances of this holiday.
5. Again, select Actions, Tools, Import Holidays, and choose the desired set of holidays. Note that no holidays are imported.
Solution:
This issue has been reported to Lotus Quality Engineering.
Workaround #1:
- The Administrator should delete the Holidays from the Domino Directory.
- The users should then clear their Notes cache (by pressing F5).
- The Administrator should then reimport the holidays into the Domino Directory from the template.
- The users should then add the Holidays into their calendar. They should now see 18 Holiday Updated (for US Holidays) as opposed to 18 Holiday Added.
Workaround #2:
One customer found a less intrusive workaround:
- Create a Refresh Selected Documents SmartIcon as stated in the document, "How to Refresh All or Selected Documents with a Notes Client" (#145840). This is a SmartIcon that you can use for many purposes.
- Open the Domino Directory on the user's mail server Domino directory, and switch to the Holidays view.
- Select all the documents from the set of Holidays the user cannot re-import.
- Click the Refresh Selected Docs SmartIcon.
- Have the user re-import. Those Holidays will re-import and be logged as updates.
Supporting Information:
The deleted items are not cleared from the users' Notes cache; therefore, you cannot simply import the holidays a second time. After the holidays are deleted from the Domino Directory and reimported from the Domino Directory template, and the users add the holidays, the holidays are actually updated as opposed to added.
