Words with Acute Accent (`) in the User Dictionary Cause Error "Cannot Add Word to User Dictionary"
Problem:
When you attempt to check the spelling of a document in Notes R5 Client, the following error message occurs:
"Cannot add word to user dictionary"
Solution:
This issue will occur if you add words with acute accents (`) to your user dictionary (User.dic).
This issue has been reported to Lotus Quality Engineering.
The only known workaround at this time is to delete all words with ` from the User Dictionary by doing the following:
1. Select File, Preferences, User Preferences.
2. Select the User Dictionary button on the Basics pane.
3. In the User Spell Dictionary dialog box, highlight a word that uses the ` character and select the Delete button.
4. Repeat this process for any other words that uses the ` mark.
5. Select OK. Select OK to close the User Preferences dialog box.

Steps To Reproduce Problem:
1. In your Notes R5 Client, select File, Preferences, User Preferences.
2. Select the User Dictionary button on the Basics pane.
3. In the New/Selected Word box of the User Spell Dictionary dialog box, type a word with an acute accent, such as: CoA`s
4. Select the Add button.
5. Select OK. Select OK to close the User Preferences dialog box.
6. Go to a database such as your mail file and compose a new document.
7. Select Edit, Check Spelling from the menu. The "Cannot add word to user dictionary" error occurs.
