R6 Client mit Domino 5 vertragbar?

Hallo Zusammen

Verträgt sich ein Lotus Notes R6.02 C1 Client mit einem 5.0.9 Domino Server? Gibt es Konfliktpotentiale und was sind die Einschränkungen?

Prinzipiell schon... -  in der IT-Abteilung machen wir das schon seit einigen Monaten ohne Probleme. Allerdings mit unveränderter Maildatenbank d.h. wir haben noch die R5 Mailschablone drauf...

Ist allerdings nicht die offiziell empfohlene Migrationstechnik. Es gibt ein super Redbook zur Migration von R5 auf Notes6... - hier ein Ausschnitt aus Kapitel 3.4.

3.4 Upgrading the client before upgrading the server
We recommend upgrading the servers before the clients because the interoperability options are stronger with that route, and you can start taking advantage of the many improvements available in Domino 6 server. That said, it is entirely possible to upgrade clients before servers. Users can take advantage of the benefits of the Notes 6 client right away, particularly if they have local
replicas of their mail files (see 3.6.1, “Mail file replicas (non-clustered)” on
page 21 for the correct way to configure this).

Hi,
wichtig ist, dass die Datenbanken im ODS Format von R5 (41:0) bleiben. Du solltest also mit dem R6 Client keine Datenbanken im R6 Format erstellen.
Dann sehe ich zunächst mal keine Probleme.

...viel Spass beim Lesen, ich habe mich sicherlich schon 3Tage damit beschäftigt bis ich das für mich relevante rausgeschrieben hatte.
Wobei man sagen muss das IBM hier absolut geniale Arbeite abliefert. Aber fast 600 Seiten dichtgefüllt mit Information haben es schon in sich...
