How to Delete Private Views Stored on the Server Database in Notes
Technote
Problem
Notes R4 and R5 have the ability to create private views on either the user's desktop (in the DESKTOP.DSK file) or on the database itself (.NSF) on the server. For a user to be able to create a private view on the server, the option "Create personal folders/views" has to be selected for that user in the Access Control List (ACL).
How are these private views deleted from the database on the server if the user is unavailable?
Solution
To delete private views stored on the server, you need to make a new replica of the database. The private views will not be transferred to the new replica.
Note: Replicating the database does not actually remove the views; it simply creates a new replica without the views in it. This is caused by the fact that users creating the replica do not have access to the private view due to the reader's names field in the view note. If a user replicates a database in which he/she has a private view, it will be replicated and will not be removed. This is not caused by Manager access in the ACL (Access Control List). Replicating private views stored in the database works the same as replicating documents with reader's names fields.
Supporting Information:
Creating a new replica can also be used as a method of removing personal agents and selective replication formulae.
