Hier eine Aussage von Ed Brill zum Thema "kostenloser" Designer Client ab 8.5.1:

In both the old and new model, that means that a developer accessing a Domino Collaboration Express server from Domino Designer needed to buy something else.  In the old model, that was a license of Domino Designer -- yes, on top of their Domino Collaboration Express license.  In the new model, that is a Domino Enterprise CAL -- yes, on top of their Domino Collaboration Express license.

Da hänge ich dann mal noch einen weiteren Teil aus oben genannten Ed-Brill-Blog an (Link hatte Glombi schon gepostet):

Update: As prompted by the comments, if the Domino Collaboration Express customer has one or more licenses of Domino Designer already, and is under maintenance/S&S for that/those license(s), the Designer licenses will be converted to Domino Enterprise CALs in February, 2010.  There is no need to purchase yet anything additional other than staying on maintenance for those Designer licenses.

Für mich heisst das "auf verständlich übersetzt": Entweder, man kauft für jede bisherige Designer-Lizenz eine Enterprise CAL-Lizenz (Andreas, was kostet das eigentlich? Ich habe da keine Preise gefunden), oder man zahlt weiter seine Designer-Wartung und bekommt dafür dann in 2010 automatisch eine DE CAL.

Kunden, die den Designer als Einzelprodukt lizensiert haben, werden am 20.02.2010 automatisch auf die
"Domino Enterprise CAL " umgestellt

Kunden, deren Wartungsverlängerung für den Designer zwischen dem 06.10.2009 und dem 19.02.2010 ansteht, können gleich die neue Enterprise CAL als Wartungsverlängerung für den Designer verwenden (Partno. E07UMLL)

Kunden, mit der Lizenzform "Domino Collaboration Express", welche einen Domino Designer benötigen, können ab sofort die neue Lizenz "Domino Enterprise CAL" erwerben, wobei der Entwicker in diesem Fall beides benötigt "Domino Collaboration Express" und "Domino Enterprise CAL" (dieses war auch im alten Model so, Do. Collb. Express + Designer)

Express Kunden, die den Designer als Einzelprodukt lizensiert haben und deren Wartungsverlängerung nach Feb. 2010 ansteht, werden am 20.02.2010 automatisch auf die Enterprise CAL umgestellt

The price of an Enterprise CAL is US$159, versus $864 for Domino Designer. Obviously, the Enterprise CAL includes the right to use Notes, iNotes, Traveler, and the client side of Lotus Mobile Connect.

Ab heute - 09.02.2010 - gilt ein neues Lizenzmodell:

Ed Brill: New Domino CAL pricing is fully in effect as of today

And gloriously, a whole bunch of confusion has disappeared from the IBM software price book. :-)

Na dann ist ja alles klar. Wichtig ist, der Designer Client ist nun umsonst:

Domino Designer became a free/entitled product -- free to download and test, entitled in the Domino CAL to connect to Domino.

Das ist nicht ganz präzise, denn um den Designer zu nutzen, braucht man eine IBM Lotus Domino Enterprise Client Access License (CAL), denn

Lotus Domino Designer software is freely available to all developers. Each developer who will build and deploy applications with Lotus Domino Designer software in a Lotus Domino or Lotus Domino Express environment must have a Lotus Domino Enterprise CAL. Existing Lotus Domino Designer customers will be converted to this new offering at Software Subscription and Support renewal.
